Dogs

We love ’em and they love walks to the beach. You are very welcome to bring your pooch into the bistro and especially on the deck. Sorry but dogs are not allowed upstairs in the hotel or in the rooms.

Accessibility

Please let us know when you book or speak to us when you arrive if you require any help or assistance. We have ramped access to the bistro to aid access, but unfortunately due to the age of the building, we do not have a lift for access to the rooms and upper floors.

Allergies

We cater for guests with a variety of dietary requirements, from dairy and gluten free to strawberry allergies. Our menus show which dishes can be served with a gluten free option or are free of gluten. If you have an allergy or intolerance to particular ingredients we’ll always try to find an alternative. This works best when we know in advance so give us a call or drop a note on your booking.

Little ones

A good number of our team are parents and know that taking little people out for a meal can be stressful. Families always get a warm welcome and we have books and games to borrow as well as an activity pack with each kids meal. We even have a mini-chef menu.

We also love it when families stay at the hotel, we have a whole section dedicated to staying with children, but the short version is that we’ll happily help your family to have the best stay. We have Z-beds that can go in certain rooms or we can book you a single next to a double for older children. Please just ask.

Breakfast

If you book a hotel room directly with us, one of the things we guarantee is that your breakfast is included. You can choose from a buffet of cereals, muesli, fresh fruit, yoghurt and pastries as well as ordering from our cooked breakfast menu. All included in your room rate. We’re able to do this because when guests book via an booking website we pay about 20% commission, so we offer them breakfast as an extra. We call it our best rate guarantee. It’s easy to book online or we’d love to have a chat, about why you’re in town and what things you like when you stay away from home and we can then make sure you get the best room to suit you.

Parking

Honestly, parking can be tight depending on which time of day you arrive. We have 6 free on-site spaces and we try and keep these for guests, but if we’re full there are not enough for each of the 12 rooms. There is on street parking nearby and that is free. We are also lucky to have lots of nearby public transport hubs too. Boscombe bus station is a short walk away and we’re about mid-way between Bournemouth and Pokesdown train stations, a short 10 minute taxi ride or a brisk 20 minute walk if you fancy it, through Boscombe gardens.

Smoking

Yeah, a hot topic this one. Goes without saying that our inside areas and hotel rooms are smoke free, and since we added lovely heated leather seats and sides to the deck, that has had to become smoke-free too. To give our smoking guests some shelter from the outside elements we have converted the ‘shack’ as a temporary refuge. We have plans to develop that area and we’re saving up to do that later this year.

Charities

Here at Urban supporting local charities and organisations is very important to us. Over the past couple of years across the Urban Guild, we have supported many causes, offering raffle prizes, venues for events, time and other charitable hugs.

We receive many requests for support and charity partnerships, so to make it more manageable and fair we have come up with a solution which we feel makes the selection process better for everyone that approaches us.

Many of you will know that we have a monthly e-newsletter. It goes out to over 15,000 of our Urban customers (not signed up? Click to subscribe). We ask our readers to vote for which charity they would like us to support for that month and we’ll give away a raffle prize to the chosen organisation.
